In the Imperial occupied Doma, a Raen girl was born. Her story, however, isn’t one for kindness. Her birth name, as it was, was Enrei Kriyuin. Her father was a samurai who fell during the war, and her uncle wound up taking care of her. She had an older brother, Rakuyo Kiriyruin, and used to have a younger sister, Suki Kriyuin. Her uncle was a bastard through and through, and young Enrei spent most of her childhood drifting from one bad situation to the next. When she became of age, she was drafted into the Garlean army, where she became Enrei Aan Yoshida, where she served as a footsoldier with her younger sister. Rayuko was taken away. Together, the two served in the VIII Legion.Enrei would constantly keep an eye on her younger sister. Unlike her sister, Yuki was a Conjurer, and acted as their squad’s healer. Enrei was trained in gunblades, alongside her use of spears. Together, they served in the army for about two years. Then, the Calamity happened.

Enrei was stationed on a transport airship when it happened, and when the apocalypse came, the airship had been struck by a glancing blow from Bahument’s fury. Yet even this ungentle whisper was enough to severely damage the ship causing it to crash land in untamed lands. The crew then had to trek their way back to safety, all the while enduring attacks from various monsters, and perhaps most damningly, Viera.
The forest they had landed in was home to a Viera tribe, and the crew, battered as they were, stood little to any chance of fighting against archers in the trees.
The end result was that many of them were captured, including Enrei and her sister. It was at this point, Yuki’s fate was sealed. For she had been badly injured in the crash, and tried her best to keep others alive. When they were captured, Yuki finally gave out.
Even the Viera, who tried to help her, were unable to do anything.Yuki’s death broke Enrei, as she was her only reason for still being alive. She took Yuki’s body to a mountain to bury her properly, and after, she wandered the wilderness until she wound up back in Imperial hands. But this time, she did not go back to the VIII Legion. This time, she was transferred to the XIV. Under Gaius's command, Enrei began to mentally recover somewhat, but not enough to undo the pain of what she endured. What's more, Enrei was wracked with guilt for helping subjucate a land that had done her no wrong.Unable to stomach it after four years of service, she left to Limsa Lominsa. There, she took on a new name, Yenzelle Sjararias, where her story began once again...

Little tidbits of lore that don't really "fit" elsewhere.
Headcanons:
This section has all the minor changes done to Yen's story in FFXIV.
For the most part, Yen's story follows the same general beats as FFXIV, with a few minor changes to account for. Basically, think of this as a single player RPG rather than a MMO.ARR:
Yen fought Irift, Titan, and Gaurda solo, mostly due to the lack of available backup at this point in the story.Heavensward:
The Dark Knight Storyline happened concurrently with the main plot, as a result, Yen was generally angrier than in FFXIV proper.
Stormblood:
Yen’s fights with Zenos were roughly even, with neither warrior able to gain a distinct edge over the other. Basically, its a coin flip as to who would win.Shadowbringers:Exactly the same.Endwalker:At the end, Yen had to be placed on medical leave for a few months. The final do or die battles at the end of New really messed her up!Dawntrail:WIP
